Become a Member of Common Roots
Why Membership Matters
At Common Roots, we’re building more than affordable homes — we’re building a community where people have a voice, a stake, and a seat at the table. Membership is one of the ways you can be part of shaping how Common Roots grows and serves our region.
Common Roots is member-led — which means that the people who participate in our community help guide our decisions and direction. Members bring diverse perspectives, share local wisdom, and help ensure that our work reflects the needs and values of our region.
By becoming a member, you help make Common Roots a stronger, more democratic organization — one where residents and neighbors have real influence and ownership of our work.
What membership means for you:
As a member of Common Roots, you will:
Have a voice in major decisions — Members vote in board elections, can run for the Board of Directors, and weigh in on important organizational choices like changes to our bylaws.
Connect to the community — You’ll be invited to our workshops, volunteer events, planning meetings, celebrations, and fundraisers.
Stay informed and recognized — Members receive a copy of our annual report and are recognized in its publication credits.
Participate with pride — You’ll be part of a democratic, community-centered effort to keep homes affordable for people in our region.
What we ask of members:
We want membership to be meaningful. To that end, we ask that all members:
Participate in at least two hours of Common Roots activity each year. This could be volunteering, attending a workshop, joining a community meeting, or helping at an event.
Stay connected. We encourage members to attend our annual meeting — it’s a chance to hear updates, share ideas, and shape what’s next.
Support our mission and values. Members agree to uphold the values in the Common Roots mission when they participate.
Who can become a member
We welcome participation from people and organizations who care about community-driven affordable homes.
